Save the Earth while shopping!

As most Marists would know by now, shopping is my favourite activity and I am always on the prowl for good buys and nice stuff. In true Ms Lee style, I was planning to go shopping yesterday after the Common Test marking (YEAH!) and stumbled upon a whole heap of plastic bags in my storeroom before I left.

I then decided that I was going to bring my bag to go shopping and selected a nice cloth bag which i brought with me to Orchard Road. Now, you know I seldom come home empty handed and the chances of me buying something is very high. True enough, I found that cloth bag very useful as it helped me to reject taking 2 plastic bags from the shops I patronised.

I have thus decided that from now on, I'll make a greater effort to bring my own bag when i go shopping and will decline taking any bags if I can help it. Truth really is I don't need a small plastic bag when I buy 2 pens and when i buy a hot dog bun, I don't need 2 bags.

I wish to encourage all Marist to do likewise - stop taking bags you don't need or would otherwise end up in the bin when you bring them home.

Let's save the Earth together!

Miss Lee, you should buy the cotton bags from Marks & Spencer's! They are organic cotton and they look so high fashion!

But too bad you missed their sales period, unless you already bought stuff from there.

Yes, I agree totally! I too carry a semi cloth bag which I keep folded up in my handbag. This can be used to contain small items so I can take fewer plastic bags.

I do get a thrill each time I save on a plastic bag.

I am becoming more authentically auntie. ;)

Wait, I dont understand, I thought an authentic auntie would collect as many plastic bags as she can and add to her stash at home?
I was accused of it once so I should know...
Dont ask me why I did that though. :)

Wah the way you guys put it, it's like being environmentally friendly (save plastic bag) = auntie! :P

Jun Xiang! Marks & Spencer's cotton bags?!! Very tai tai! :)

Sadist, you are still not an authentic auntie. You don't carry those plastic bags around. You carry the cloth bag thingy - not auntie enough lah! :)

& Tai Hong! You were accused of being auntie?!?!!? Oh dear! Tell them that you are just being environmentally friendly!

My parents love taking plastic bags from supermarkets, they have two drawer-full of plastic bags and they like re-using the plastic bags for rubbish bins etc, although thats convenient, im nt sure whether thats saving or wasting lol.
