Racial Harmony – “Blessings For All Day”

A “Blessings for All Day” event was held at all 69 mosques across Singapore in July by Malay Muslims groups. This event was timely as it strengthen the image of the Muslim community in time of public unease over the Jemaah Islamiyah related arrests. This event contributed and brought blessings to all, in line with the teaching of Islam.

And attended by seven inter-faith groups representing the major religions in Singapore, the event had provided a good opportunity to interact across racial and religious lines. The event has also comprised of a blood donation drive and food distribution to the needy and a donation to Mercy Relief.

The JI problem had probably resulted from a misunderstanding about Islam and this event would provide a better understanding of the situation.
